Beijing is the capital of China which is by far the most populated nation on earth in which nearly 6 billion people call home. Beijing itself lays claim to about 17 million residents by itself and the history of this amazing city is completely in sync with the architecture and surroundings you can expect from mainland China.
Although Beijing has been modernized in recent years and is now full of skyscrapers and office buildings it remains true to its roots and well-known attractions like the Forbidden City remain untouched for the most part.
Take a moment to review the Beijing Travel Video above to get a sense of what there is to see and do within the city and the surrounding areas. Beijing is absolutely huge and it is impossible to see everything on one visit so when you are here take note of the small things which will almost certainly draw you back for another visit.
As you can imagine with such a large population, mainland China has dozens of different area codes, although most begin with zero and must be dropped when calling from outside of the country.
If you find yourself in need of cash while in the city, take note that most larger banks only exchange currency during the week.
If you have an emergency, be aware that dialing 110 will help but virtually no one speaks English at emergency numbers in China so try and find help locally instead.
