Whether you've just started dated or have been married for twenty years, there are some facets of traveling as a couple that mark it as different from traveling on your own. A well planned vacation with the person you love is usually the highlight of any year but (as with any holiday) there are a few factors that will determine whether the holiday becomes one to remember or one to try to forget. In this article, I'll outline some tips that can help ensure that you both get the most out of your vacation and that you remain true friends at the end of it!
Being part of a couple doesn't mean that both parties have to contribute to every decision but both parties should have the opportunity to contribute, if they so wish.
I recommend having one suitcase each to avoid arguments over whether one of you is hogging all the luggage space. You might think that your other half is taking too many pairs of shoes but if it's his and her suitcase that they're filling, then just let it go.
Money can be a cause of friction, so make sure that you agree, in advance, what your holiday budget is going to be. Additionally, you will need to agree how you are going to split costs.
We go on holiday to have a good time, whether that involves careering down white water rapids or relaxing on a beach. However, there are inevitably occasions where being on holiday can lead to stress.
