Frankfurt is one of the largest cities in Germany and is often hailed as the business and financial center of the country. Many of the international flights to the country land at the city's airport and although many tourists often drive right through in a rush to visit Berlin, this is one city that should not be so easily overlooked.
Frankfurt is well known for being an industrialized city and as such has nearly 2,500 factories operating at various points all over the city and lining the banks of the Main River.
Take a moment to watch the Frankfurt Travel Video above and see just some of the things to experience in the area that is home to Germany's central bank and has been a major banking city since back in 1798.
Over 1.5 million visitors flock to the city each year for one of the many international trade fairs that take place in the spring and autumn. During that time, if you're visiting for any other reason, you may have a difficult time securing a place to stay as the hotel rooms within the city are often booked.
If you need cash while in the city you'll find currency exchanges are located at the airport and if you find yourself in an emergency situation you can dial 110 for the police and 112 to report a fire, request an ambulance or secure first aid.
