Known by many as the "Steel City", many people don't realize that Pittsburgh could have just as easily been nicknamed the "Glass City" due to its large number of factories making glass as well as steel. Pittsburgh has come a long way since then and although it still appreciates its past, it is moving toward the future rapidly.
Many things here are named after Andrew Carnegie, an important figure in the history of Pittsburgh. Don't miss the natural history museum, art museum or science center that offers tours of a cold war submarine floating on the river. There is also a newly built casino and famous "ducky" tours which take you from land to water without changing vehicles.
